His positive reaction is not uncommon. U.S. nuclear power plants are, indeed, located in some of the most beautiful spots in the country, and they work hard to keep them that way. Environmental stewardship is taken very seriously by the nuclear industry and may help explain why public support for nuclear power is strongest among those living near an operating nuclear plant.
