Another Newspaper in Favor of Nuclear Power

As lines grew longer and prices went higher at the gas pumps this weekend, the Mobile Register in its Saturday editorial espoused nuclear energy as a way to decrease U.S. dependence on oil, both domestic and foreign:

The demand for fossil fuels would be greatly lessened if this nation, just as France does, relied far more heavily on safe, clean nuclear energy. The fact is that nuclear plants don't befoul the air and water, and that modern technology provides for them to be almost immune from disaster.
