Chirac: France to Build New Generation of Reactors

Only days after the European crisis over natural gas supply, French President Jacques Chirac is vowing to build a new generation of nuclear reactors for his country:

In a speech Chirac said: "We need to preserve our lead in nuclear power. I've decided to immediately launch the development by the French Atomic Energy Agency of a fourth generation prototype power plant which will be up and running by 2020."
