Info Post
For the first time since Sept. 11, 2001, the Point Beach Energy Center is reopening to the general public. The Energy Center, adjacent to the Point Beach Nuclear Plant in Two Rivers, Wis., will host a "grand reopening" on Feb. 12. After that, regular visiting hours will take effect.
Visitors will be able to step into a model of a nuclear containment and learn about the operation of a nuclear reactor. Members of the Point Beach Security force will be on hand to discuss some of the enhancements made to plant security.

It’s been more than four years since the Energy Center was closed to the public following the events of Sept.11, 2001. Since that time, the already-robust security at Point Beach, as well as at nuclear plants across the nation, has been significantly strengthened per new requirements issued by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Implementing additional security upgrades at Point Beach allows re-opening the center to the general public while still maintaining secure access to the plant.
